Breitling Datora

What are your thoughts on the Breitling Datora ? Honestly 2 years ago I could barely look at Breitling in the eye. I thought they were ugly. Like, kill it with fire ugly.

Now I'm seriously considering on getting this one.

It’s always reminds me of the 5270P

I do really love the style and as @the_real_watch_guy has mentioned, it’s a very good reminder of the patek. Unfortunately that point puts it way in the shadow of the Patek and highlights it’s shortcomings in design for me. Those cut off numbers are inexcusable for a near 5 figure sum.

Looks great. Just not a fan of the sliced hour numbers.

·

Rather than chopped up and missing numerals they should have just gone with indices.

I got the opportunity to handle one in person the other day and wrote a micro review about it here.

It is beautiful and the level of complication cannot be beaten for the price. It fits me well at 42mm and it isn't as chunky as other complicated watches. If you're thinking about getting one, I would say go for it. It's one of my dream watches for sure.

Me too.. few years ago, Breitling NO F...... Way.. Now I own a SUPEROCEAN HERITAGE in Steel and Red Gold.. And I need a Navitimer in my collection

·

I want to love it but I can’t. It’s just too much of a Breitling, I hate their design language. Which sucks because I have somewhat of a connection to the company and it would be lovely to have one in my collection. Maybe though if I see it in person I could like it. I do like it, but something about the font and the proportions just make it very Breitling, unfortunately.

The salmon dial Datora is an absolute showstopper of a watch imo! I would agree it channels considerably from PP 5270 and certain Lange models but at a fraction of the price (larger discount over retail on various sites such as Chrono24) 🤙
