Didn’t expect this to be my first GS

I recently acquired my most expensive watch so far - a Grand Seiko.

About 2 months ago I went to Timeworks, an AD in Seattle, Wa. I saw GS in person for the first time. In my head I planned on purchasing a spring drive watch, specifically the SBGA413, but I wasn’t sure how it would fit. I am a fan of > 40mm watches. The 413 wore great on the wrist to my surprise. I tried ln a wide range of their watches, but left reassured the 413 was the one.

Flash forward a month, I swing by the AD to checkout the watches again. They didn’t have the 413, but I noticed a watch I didn’t see at the last visit - the “Rikka” SBGH271. The moment I put the watch on, I knew it was the one. I had tunnel vision at my last visit and was stuck on the 413, but at no point did the watch feel like “my watch” like the Rikka.

Green is my favorite color, and the gold accents are a perfect complement. The steel case is absolutely beautiful and I like the weight over titanium personally. The light plays on the dial beautifully. It goes from a deep solid green in low light, to a beautiful texture in high light.

I gave it a few days, and I could not stop thinking about the watch. I walked in a few days later and purchased the watch.

Sometimes the watch tells you it’s the one, despite what you thought about other watches.

TLDR; came in for a spring drive model, specifically the SGBA413, left with a high beat SBGH271

That's a real beauty you've got there. The 62GS and the 44GS style watches from the Heritage Collection are the best looking watches that Grand Seiko has on offer, in my opinion.

Excellent choice! I had a similar experience with the SBGH273 and the SLGH009. In my mind, I was going to get the SBGH273. It’s a gorgeous watch and I had researched it for a bit. But when I went into the AD the LE SLGH009, which I had considered but had “ruled out” because of the price difference, for me absolutely stole the show.

That was the day I learned the 44GS case design is my favorite case design from GS. I walked out with the SLGH009 and still consider it my favorite watch.

Congrats and enjoy! It’s a gorgeous piece.

Beautiful piece, congrats! I have the SBGA413 and it is a beautiful piece as well, but more subtle. That one is a real stand out and and shows off it’s polishing!

Nice I want one 🍻

GS watches are some of the most beautiful watches. I hope to own one some day. That green dial goes great with the gold hands.

Good looking watch.

Love at first sight, it's great that you held back a few days before purchasing this beauty.

Congratulations and happy honeymoon 😜

Congratulations on a beautiful watch!

I generally experience as many watches as I can, and it's the ones that keep popping back in my mind that truly appeal to me. If, after several months or even a year or two, I keep thinking about a particular model, I know that one's worth the investment. All the best.

Congratulations! I seriously think all of the 4 season collections from GS look awesome!

For me I'm stuck with either SBGA413 or SBGH273.
