Invicta is CRAP!!

So I posted a while back how my Mom got me this Invicta as a gift. She doesn't have a lot of money and she wanted to buy me a watch. Well less than a month after I got it the crown became nearly impossible to unscrew. I literally rubbed the skin off of my index finger trying to manipulate it. Anyway, sent it back, Amazon sent a new one. I immediately tried to size it up and the pins would not come out of the bracelet. The link started splitting apart and they broke my link removal tool. I am done with Invicta forever! It is what it is, I got my Mom's money back

You know…for a guy who’s handle is ZenWatchGuy, I find this post to be rather anti-Zen! 😂

I kid, I kid…sorry you had a bad experience.  I have a feeling that you’ll be happier with that G-Shock over the long term anyway.

Not an Invicta fan. I know people enjoy them so I digress.  You see the issues and now have a great watch!

Glad to hear you got your money back - I'm sure you'll be much happier with the G-Shock.

People seem to hate Invicta for several reasons, including some hideous watch designs (which is obviously a personal choice), extremely deceptive marketing tactics with ridiculously inflated "MSRP" values, and sub-par quality. The only model that I've seen that seems to get any respect is their basic Sub knock-off, the 8926OB. I had bought one of those early on in my collecting journey (2019) as a watch to allow me to experiment with regulating a watch without having to worry if I ended up destroying it. I suspect that the biggest issue with them is quality control, and if you luck onto a decent one, they may be worth the heavily discounted prices they are normally available for, but certainly not worth their stated list prices. I never really wore it, so I can't comment on reliability, but the crown certainly did not inspire confidence, the lume was pathetic, and the bracelet/clasp felt like something from a dollar store.  I paid < $100 CDN back in 2019 (at a time when they were advertised for over $600 CDN), and felt that it was worth what I paid for, given my intended use.

Had a similar experience with my vary first Invicta diver, it's was also my last.

This was my first Invicta and my experience with it really validated all the hate I've heard from watch people on the internet. I'm pretty sure it depends on which factory in whatever country it's coming from. The movement, (Seiko nh35), preformed as expected. The problem was the poor quality of the case and the poor quality control that went into the bracelet. I believe I would've gotten a better watch from Jomashop.com or another grey market dealer along those lines. It's just such a crap shoot on a brand like Invicta. And there are too many more consistent affordable brands available to take a gamble, ya know?
