1956/57 Timex Viscount
Some of you may remember this as I wore it briefly after buying it and before it stopped working (oh the joys of buying vintage). Well, it's taken a few weeks and several failed attempts to kick start it, but here it is, back on rotation again.
Like all vintage Timex movements, the M29 automatic is not the prettiest on the planet.
But it is robust enough to stand up to my amateurish tinkering. Ive now managed to breathe new life into a few of them with nothing more than a partial strip down, clean and lube.
I feel it is now time to do a full strip down and rebuild and if anyone has any old non-working vintage Timexes lurking in a bottom drawer, that you'd like to donate (I'll cover the postage) for me to practice on, please get in touch.
Of course, I can't forget the rather nice and comfortable Rochette buffalo leather strap I added to give the watch a more modern appeal.

Nice! I managed to resurrect some old Timex too, they usually just need a soak in lighter fluid and a few drops of oil. A full dismantlement is only necessary if something is really shot, and not recommended - it's really hard to get the thing back together.

Thanks a lot, Tony. I'm thinking it's probably time I moved up a gear though, and start tinkering on real watch movements 🤓
Awesome job, John. Very impressive. It looks fantastic! I'm sure you are relieved (and proud) to get this beauty ticking again.

Thanks Mark. I'm not sure I have an abundance of patience, but I do have a high desire to lock myself away and hide from the world. Playing with my watches gives me the perfect excuse 🤓
Thanks, Sam. I hope you're not working too hard today 🤓
Exhausted! 🤣
