My first automatic watch (Seiko king turtle SRPE05K1)

I finaly decided to buy my first automatic watch. I chose this Seiko king turtle because of it's amazing dail and it's bigger size (45mm). It also seemed like an unique color with a cool military look.

I don't know a lot about watches and certainly not about automatic watches. So that's why I wanted to hear your opinion. Is this a good watch for everyday wear?

This was a big purchase for me. I bought it for €610. So I hope that I spent my money well.

And another question: should I buy a different strap? And if so, would you buy a bracelet or nato strap?

Any advice is welcome.

It is a very good watch, I like the color but I think it is not the most combinable of all of them, I chose the one with the black dial with steel bracelet and I bought the original rubber strap

My turtle is one of my favorites… I find it very comfortable to wear probably because of the smooth rounded back edges. I love the visibility of the hands and lume. It’s not delicate, and so I feel comfortable doing anything with it… full on tool watch. cheers 🍻

I’m certain strapcode makes bracelets for these, and they produce exceptional bracelets for around $100 and under. Or you could buy the OEM Seiko bracelet for it. Yes, that’s a beast of a watch. Will last a lifetime. Congrats on your first mechanical. You now have a watch with a soul.

You can't go wrong with a Turtle, an excellent choice mate. Tough but handsome (like me 😂)

Watchgecko Geckota Zuludiver are my first port of call, got a good quality range & decent prices too. 😉👍🏻

It depends on your lifestyle, but a turtle shouldn’t be a challenging watch to wear daily. You can easily put it on its original bracelet, rubber straps, NATOs, you name it, thanks to the drilled lugs. That can make it more adaptable if you need a bit more of variety

Congratulations! Enjoy! I would see how you get on with the OEM strap and go from there. You might really like it, or have a better idea of what type of strap you'd prefer.

Good watch to start with automatics. I'd say go with a bracelet first. Look at Uncle straps (formerly Uncle Seiko, that should tell you where their focus is) for suitable bracelets.

Thanks for the link. I think the Oyster bracelet fits the best.
