A lovely day with my favorite gem of a watch

My Grand Seiko SLGA007 Lake Suwa remains my firm favorite, across my collection of JLCs, Patek and Rolexes. Was one of the hardest watch to hunt for, but it was well worth the effort. I love that it’s a IKYKY watch, and the reactions I get from people who recognize it. The gold accents against the deep blue ripple are just sublime. And it’s absolutely wearable day to day.

Have since gotten a few dings on it, but knowing that it’s only $800 full service away from getting the full zaratsu repolish and spring drive service here in Tokyo, gives me the full confidence to rock this baby almost daily.

I love this piece to bits, it’s just so damn special.

Man this dial is amazing and stands out even among grand seiko dials

·

Love it!

I'm perpetually torn as to whether I chose right when I grabbed the SLGA017 instead of your model, when I was holding both in my hand trying to decide!

My ad sells many premium brands does extremely well with Grand Seiko, in fact his honesty and influence finally convinced me to buy a few GS watches but no spring drive yet. He tells me that full services and work on spring drive movements are best affected with watches shipped back to Japan. Obviously being an enthusiast I will have to source one soon but servicing at a proper centre is extremely important when putting down over 1k cad on any watch. I would be more comfortable if GS would establish a proper office to service watches sold here in Canada.

Wishful thinking I meant over 10k on a GS watch. Haha.

That's gorgeous. I hope I can afford a grand seiko one day.

I think they ship all of them back to Japan for servicing. Could be good or bad, but at least you get that peace of mind.

They’re lovely timepieces. I hope you achieve your goal soon!

This has the best water-mimicking dial on the whole market imo. It’s like I’m looking at a fresh water lake during a decent breeze

Hi! I was informed Spring drives are shipped to NJ USA depending on the reference, high beat might be serviced locally since there are authorized repair centres for Seiko my experience has been average! Polishing and full service back to Japan. Current sds back to Japan. All fine especially since we all own multiple watches but after covid you might wait 6 months for a routine service. First world problems not worth thinking about too seriously. Still a concern. Have a great day!

Oh then this is a pic of before you decided to buy them or do you own both? They're both great!

I had the SLGA017 and 007, and SLGH297 and SBGP017 all in a tray in front of me, and was taking turns with each on my wrist ..

The Blue Glacier 017 took the win at the time, so I don’t own any of the other 3. But still mull over that decision 😂🙄
