I got one of these about a month ago. I really like it, although the hands wash out a little in bright light.
Depends what you mean by affordable, I think you could find a great deal on that longines in the secondary market if you save a haggle a little.
Maybe you can find the zelos a little over retail?

Yeah, I can see how the numbers and markers on the white ring might blend in with the hands.
Vario Empire watches are quite nice. I have one in salmon. They're re-releasing a few of their handwound models.

ETA: The handwound Miyota is a cool looking for a cheap movement. It's been discontinued, so these are probably the last, so get one while you can.

For some reason I keep forgetting about Vario. But man, they make some pretty watches.
