I’ve always been a bit of a collector. I have a small coin collection. In videogames I would always try and collect sets of items (like books or armor). I also love history and the story that things (like coins) can tell.
I feel watches were a natural thing for me to start collecting, and now I have some disposable income I am able to.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
My first watch ever was a Ralph Lauren Quartz watch I just bought ‘to have a watch’ and because Ralph Lauren was a brand that I thought would be cool. This was in high school I was probably around 14 at the time.
My first watch as a ‘watch guy’ was a Seiko SNK805.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Keep calm. When I first got into it there were so many watches I wanted. Everyday there was a new watch I was interested in, completely different from the watch of the day before. It is easy to get caught up in all the different styles and specs, so I would suggest to keep calm, take it easy, and don’t go out buying a million watches all at once.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Not a singular brand. I have been really drawn to field, GADA, and vintage watches of late.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Rolex Explorer I - just the ultimate GADA watch in my opinion.
Grand Seiko SBGA413 - the brand speaks to me, the dial is beautiful, and spring drive is so cool in my opinion.
