Anyone Know about Kurono Releases?

I’ve recently become entranced with these Kurono Tokyos and I was wondering if anyone knew about how often they release and what their pricing looks like?

The watches sell out fast. Probably faster than Zelos I'm sure quantities are smaller. I think they start at 2k the Chronos hitting the 3k+ easy.

Gotcha, thanks man. Looks like I’ll need to get lucky.

They make beautiful watches, but from what I’ve heard, they’re very pricey for the movements they come with

It’s def a scenario of paying for design and association with a famous watchmaker. These aren’t bad points, but some people really can’t get beyond movements . . . So if folks can’t look beyond that then it’s probably a no go 🙅‍♂️ Of course a watch is more than just a movement, but this is where blood gets shed in forums 😂

If folks are interested in Kurono your best bet is to get on their mailing list and to follow them on Instagram. Many models sell out within minutes.

Sign up for their newsletter. They should send out notice at least 1 week in advance of a launch with all the information you need. Usually they do an order window and look to meet the demand for what is placed within that window, but I do think they can “sell out” as well.

I personally prefer watches with the Miyota 9 Series movement over those that use a clone of a 40 year old movement. I'm not a big fan of watches with the original movement either. That's not saying I won't buy the right watch with one of those movements, it's just that I pretty much stay away from them.

Oh definitely, IDK much about movements but it’s just an opinion I’ve heard expressed a bunch on r/watches (I basically use that as a Pinterest board). I personally have what I think to be quite a unique looking HMT that probably has a shady franken-movement in it!

Yeah, Hajime Asaoka is an incredible designer. I'm actually really happy he started up Kurono Tokyo for those of us that either don't want to or can't spend the money to get one of his other hand built watches.

Just FYI, you just need to pay attention to the release window. In the past they tried a limited number release, but instantly got hoarded by scalpers picking them all up. In order to combat this, they now offer a opening window where as long as you make a purchase during this time, you are guaranteed the purchase. Afaik you can only buy one.

Pro tip: create an account ahead of time, and make sure your credit card info is ready to go. The last time the purchase window was like a few mins, but that was a few years back when I got mine.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice!

Need a double "on fire" emoji for that piece.

100%, I did a double-take when I saw it yesterday!

I had the browser open and my CC info saved in Google Chrome for the latest launch in Feb. Something glitched and I was delayed maybe 20 seconds and the watch I targeted was sold out. Crazy demand.

I had it for 1-2 months and sold it. It is a very pretty watch and like you I bought one off second hand as I was enchanted by the design and story behind it. I enjoyed it but from a practical prespective the minute hour hand are easily mixed up at a glance. Will definitely stay tuned for their new release

They just had a release about a month out two ago. Sign up for their mailing list and you’ll get an alert a week or so before it drops.

One of the few watch brands I’d buy off the grey market and just swallow the markup…. Because COOL 👌
