Rolex explorer 2 options?

Good morning everyone, with Father's day and the one year anniversary of my watch collecting journey on the horizon I've developed an interest in a particular watch model, while unfortunately the cost of a new actual rolex is well out of my budget I've narrowed down my search to these 3 models with around 12-$1300.00 as my budget and wanted to ask everyone's opinion as well as any further suggestions, thank you and have a great one!

These all look like the Explorer 2 but don’t work the same, I presume you know that? The Explorer 2 is a travelling GMT the ones highlighted in the picture are desk GMTs. For me the CW is a very good looking watch both in pictures and in the flesh.

·

The CW is the nicest I think.

I was very disappointed with my last Seiko and all the issues it had.

The Omega Great White is a true GMT with a rotating bezel, the Explorer is not, it was designed as a caving watch.

Thank you, yes I own a few seikos and they all have been great so the CW would be a great addition

I do love omega and that one is a win for sure

Hi Tom, I'm a fan of Explorer 2 look, but it's unreachable for my bugdet. Recently I've purchased my CW GMT and it's a great watch! I've just written my thoughts on it here

I've also considered this Seiko 5 gmt but I'm happy I've chosen CW - I think it's way better in quality and look!

Good luck with your journey!

I have the CW Sealander GMT 36 mm. Fits right within the price range that you're looking at, well made and a GMT. Quick bracelet adjustments if you get the bader bracelet and easy to remove to make this watch a real strap monster give you all different types of looks.

If you are open to something a little different, check out DuFrane! You can get 5% off if you use Dufraneclub5.

The CW looks by far the best and close to the Explorer while remaining a CW. The date position is an improvement over the Explorer IMO.

I like the CW best of the 3

Thank you I'm hearing the most positive about it

CW is an obvious choice here. They are copying E2 and not even denying it.

Lol very true

These are all nice watches - but after going through a similar phase, I have realized that once I buy a watch which is a look-alike of a fav one…it spoils the charm of the actual watch which drew me to it in the first place.

Just my dad thoughts…at the end of the day, do what what makes feel good. There’s no right/wrong here

Very true, as much as i would love to buy a real rolex it's so far out of my budget but one can dream haha

·

The CW is the most accurate homage looks wise. You are after all scratching an itch. They’re meant to be reliable and good. Neither of the other two for me

Very true and why it's #1 on my list

I know I'm like a broken record, but I love LOVE this watch. Yes, it's a straight up copy...but of a Rolex (1655) that hasn't been made for 35 years, will never be made again, and now goes to collectors for $25,000.00 to $30,000.00!

It's Swiss made, rugged, beautiful, accurate....and HALF of your target price!

Oh yes I've seen that one and its a solid choice

·
skxcellent

I'd go with the Seiko, BUT grab the white dial JDM version from Chrono24!

Image

Thank you I've looked everywhere and couldn't find a white dial

·
tonistarch

I have the black seiko gmt and I love it. The cw does look better but 36mm is a no no for me. Size does matter 🤣

Agreed I'm a bigger guy so I prefer a larger dial

·
dplowe4229

Half to a third the price of an Ex2 and much less common….

Very true

·

Go with the CW. It is a different league altogether

The more I read about it the more I like it

I would say Seiko if it had sapphire. I vote for CW. Congratulations on one year. I hit the year mark this month. Great hobby!

Try the seiko navigator timer gmt. I believe it to be a travel gmt and can be found in your budget. A buddy has one and it is spectacular.
