Hello Community,
Hopefully, you can help me out. I am lost and would appreciate your insight ๐
I want to buy a present for my GF who is not a watch person (she is bored listening to my talk of complications, new releases, etc.) but at the same time she likes watches as an accessory. Her preference seems vintage inspired (e.g. some Cartier, Hamilton models) but from my perspective her lifestyle (skate parks, outdoor activity, travel) would rather be suited by some diver or g-shock. I guess she mentioned once she liked classic analog Casio on someoneโs hand.
She doesnโt have a watch now and thereโs no confidence anything I buy will see decent wear time. So I want to be careful with first purchase - targeting some quartz from affordable brand (this way itโs always ready to wear). Just wanna see how it goes - if she wears it frequently and with joy then I can buy smth more high end in the future. Otherwise - at least I donโt waste ton of money.
I know affordable is relative term, but letโs say Casio or Seiko as opposed to TAG or Oris
What watch would be a good present? I thought of Casios with analog display, but I know nothing about them and easy to get lost in their catalog. GM-S5600LC-7ER looks perfect to me, but tbh - not sure if alu case is worth it or go with plastic ones?
Any other recommendations are welcome ๐
Hello! I am relatively new to hobby and have only few timepieces for now. Collecting direction for me is known - I plan to focus on German brands since this country is dear to my heart. Hopefully in f...

To be honest, and based on what you are saying, I don't think a watch is the best Idea for a gift.
Get her something you know she'll like.
I agree. Not projecting ourselves onto our SOs is an important lesson to learn.
If you are looking for the analog variant, there is a smaller Casioak in both resin and stainless steel case. Search with GM-S2100 for metal and GMA-S2100 for the resin models.
GM-S2100PG-1A4
So she likes vintage inspired and an analogue Casio, and likes them "as an accessory" - I'm not sure how you figure a digital G-Shock will work?
I would go for something that is a pretty accessory that won't be worn all the time. There are a lot of inexpensive Tank watches, look up Seiko Tank and there are gold or silver versions. (Other brands are available!) Don't rule out "men's" sizes if the ladies are too dainty - figure out what would fit with her other jewellery. And stick to quartz.

Thatโs true. I am just not certain. She made remarks that she likes some watches, at the same time I donโt think she will actually wear them. So just want to give it a try and see how it goes. If no interest - I am fine with it, no force ๐
Get a coupleโs set from Seiko; look at the SWR069 and SRK047. Itโs a 29mm and 39mm watch and you guys will match.
Also, I recommend getting a gift that you know she would like. Lead with that gift and follow up with the coupleโs watch gift just in case ๐๐

Most of the time she would be training on skatepark rather than in theater ๐ From durability G-shock is first that came to my mindโฆ
You described my wife pretty well.
I floated the idea of getting her a smaller CasiOak GMAS2100.
She liked the watch, thought it looked cool, but said she would never wear it because Apple Watch.....
+1 I would look at getting them something not a watch.
