I have over 100 and I'm still not satisfied.. there's always something new out there that I just can't live without. Or something that wasn't on my radar and all of a sudden I had to have it.
In my experience they seem to be pretty good. I bought a used Rolex that they flagged because the stainless steel buckle on the crocodile band was not original. It allowed me to negotiate a lower price on the watch with the seller.
Let's face it.. regardless of what you call it, tool watch or dress watch a wrist watch is really a piece of jewelry. I have around 100 wrist watches and a few pocket watches. I wear a different watch every day depending on what I'm going to do or how I'm dressed. Without exception none of my watches have even so much as a hint of a scratch or a ding. I would never consider wearing any of my wrist watches while doing manual labor.. which luckily I don't have to do anymore. When I was working I was in uniform and still chose a watch for the possibilities of the situation I may have encountered. In those situations I set aside an all stainless steel watch and bracelet with a 5 mm thick Sapphire crystal and Sapphire bezel with a Swiss quartz movement and 10 year battery rated for water resistance at a thousand meters. If it did become marked up on the band I can easily make it look like new. I still have it and considered my "beater". If something were to happen to it I wouldn't have cried very much because I did not spend a lot of money on it. However nowadays I do baby it because I can't replace it at any price.
Well, I can't see where they would price a refurbished watch higher than their retail price for the same model. I can see them having some type of plan to offer to take in used Rolexes towards a new one ala what car dealerships do... maybe. Then again it may simply drive up the cost of a used refurbished Rolex because I can see where with Rolexes buying power they can make a lot of these models unavailable in the gray market by depleting they're availability. I can't really blame them because that's what I routinely do. I find the best used quality Rolex at the best deal I can find and then I send them to Rolex in New York to have them refurbished and sell them for profit. I do know that apparently Rolex is going to spend a billion dollars for a new headquarters in Switzerland and a new facility in New York. Not sure if there's a correlation.
