Modstok first attempt.

Thanks to everyone for the help and recommendations on where to source parts, etc, I already had the smooth bezel and display caseback but this time I added new dial and hands and did some regulating. Original is the beige one and the end result is the blue one, nothing crazy or out of the ordinary but I really like it, and while I do like the satellite dial and think it's charming as heck, I wanted this watch to be my beater, took it on vacation, to the beach, hiking, etc and it's so hard to read at first glance, the date is such a pain to change too, plus I  wanted to dip my toes into modding, opening a watch, mess with it, fun times!

The smooth bezel certainly changes the look and exaggerates the case shape a bit. For me blue dials are a nice fit for a dive watch.

I half considered such a bezel for my Komandirskie but it seems nobody does them with titanium nitride coating to match the coating on my 819 case Komi, and even if somebody did it would probably cost more than the watch did.

Excellent build.  That's one of my favorite Vostok dials!

Ouch, yeah, I'd get OCD if the bezel didn't match.
