Would you swap a Rolex for a Longines?

I keep a tight collection, I have this 1603 Buckley dial it’s a really cool watch with a ton of character, I’ve had the bracelet and movement fully rebuilt by Rolliworks. Absolutely nothing wrong with it besides the damage to the dial or “patina” if you want to call it that.

I for sure need to keep a steel and blue dial watch in my collection. I really like the new Legend diver 39 in the awesome pale blue from Longines. I don’t currently have a diver in my collection so it would be cool to add that. I like the compressor style case too, super cool! I’m not too worried about losing a date function. The 1603 is non quick set so if it gets past more than a few days I just set the time and don’t worry about the date anyway.

What do you think? Would you swap this vintage Rolex for a modern Longines? Am I crazy?

It depends on the watch. They both have really nice watches I don’t think I could replace one with the other

·

They're two different styles of watches. Unless if the Rolex doesn't function for your needs (such as water resistance), I'd keep the vintage Rolex and appreciate that the newer Longines is a good modern watch.

·

Apples vs carrots, these are not something I think can be compared. FWIW I'm a fan of buckley rolexes, so if you were trying to swap I'd vote against.

Never in my life and beyond death

Based on the terrible condition of the Rolex dial (that's damage-not patina) I'd gladly swap for the Longines.

·

It sounds like you’ve made the decision already. Also that damage is cool looking. It’s reminiscent of Roman ruins.

I liked that unique Rolex when I first saw it in one of your recent posts. However, if I had the choice (and the dough), I'd buy the LLD 39.

·

Never. Buy the Longines if you really do like it but I would not trade in the DJ for it.

Nah I would not say that, just something that caught my eye. There’s a lot of aspects of it that remind me of the Buckley dial but it would take some serious thought to replace the Rolex

·

I would definetly. After all said and done they're just watches. If you like the Longines go for it

·

I've never sold a watch to get another and wouldn't want to. Grass is rarely greener.

·

Crazy!

·

Let’s just face it without being rude or snoby but yes you are crazy 😅👍

·

I wouldn't. Why not keep both if you are only considering a swap because they are the same color and both steel? You're allowed more than one haha
