Blackbay 36? or Blackbay S&G 36?

I've never gone for gold watches, not two-tone or even a stainless pogue with a gold dial. The closest I have is a Smiths Everest with Gilt markers. Having said that, I tried on the new 36mm S&G Tudor blackbay recently and really like it. The gold isn't as blingy as in the official Tudor photos and I think it would look great on a leather strap. The case is more refined (like a Rolex Oyster case) than the BB36 and the jubilee bracelet is more comfortable too.

I voted for the plain stainless BB36, but only because I personally can't carry the look of a S&G watch.

But I haven't seen the BB36 S&G in person yet. If S&G watches typically don't call out to you, then that Tudor might be something special...

This is me trying a 2 tone Explorer. I can't imagine myself feeling comfortable with this look.

That two-tone Rolex seems more blingy somehow than the S&G Tudor.

It could also be the different reflections from the environment. Maybe try it elsewhere and see if it looks different? The bezel reflections on your photo looks like the watch is surrounded by a dark background.

I voted two tone just to be contrarian. Black dials lack the class to deserve any gold whatsoever and I wouldn't recommend a BlackBay to anyone.

That’s unfortunate. The BlackBay line is pure class.

I was looking at both these watches recently and the S&G isn’t for me. I like gold watches, I have seen 2-tone that I’ve liked, but that 2 tone isn’t for me. The regular steel one is just fantastic looking up close though.

Enjoy the Smith and save your money for a nice watch.
