Stubborn Longines case back!

First time ever struggling to open up a case back to the point of giving up!

Got this gifted to me from a family member and I've given up trying to get the back of to put a new battery in it.

It looks like it's snap on but I'm not 100% sure. There is no lip or gap I can see between the case and the case back to fit a tool in. It does seem to unscrew using a friction ball.

Does any have any tips or is familiar with this particular watcg and can tell me what I'm doing wrong?

there is usually 1 slight deformity made into the case back for prying them off.

Not in this one that I can see. I've popped the case off countless watches in my day and this one has me beat 😅

Maybe it requires the 4 sided mechanism?

I once struggled so hard to remove a friend’s case back. I think there was gunk on the gasket and dents that made it nearly sealed shut.

Once I removed the darn thing, I couldn’t press it back on. So I purchased a simple press that finally worked https://a.co/d/gkawOPy

GL bud, and get simple case back press if you don’t already (if it’s a *** to remove, it’s even worse to put back).

Keep going with the friction ball for a while, see if a gap forms.

From the era when Longines wasn't doing very good. Cases were made in Hongkong and other south Asia countries. The tolerances were not very good and the casebacks are too tight. It's a snap back but you need to have a good opener for it. Try one of these.
