His and Hers

Both myself and my wife wearing our new acquisitions this evening, she has a new 2019 G-Shock Baby-G MSG-C100G-1AER that I chose for her and I am wearing my dads old 90's Titanium Seiko.

I rescued this from dads desk drawer of expired things along with about 3 other dead watches, it was plastered in white emulsion scratched up and the battery was long dead, but a bit of a clean up, some scotchbrite to revive the brushed titanium, a new gasket and battery means that it is running perfectly on the dot for the first time in probably 20 years!

The wife is delighted with her watch, it's her second G Shock, the first being a pink mini Casioak that I bought her a couple of years ago which she also loves.

I'm slowly turning her to the dark side... I catch her looking lovingly at what's on her wrist like I do and she's starting to slowly come around to the idea that I'm not so crazy after all!

Nothing wrong here, although I am biased toward the Seiko. Have never seen one of those and I usually have an eye out for the more bread and butter models. I've never had a titanium watch and have always preferred stainless steel, but I'm thinking you can't polish one with a Scotchbrite. You did well, I'm guessing it was a pretty fine Scotchbrite.

I can't tell from my screen if it's green, grey or black but it sure is a good look. That's great too that your wife is delighted with her watch.

Thanks, yes It's an obscure model from the 90's, they don't even really have model numbers so it's hard to find others that look like it, it's a black/grey dial with a stamped and folded bracelet, which is quite squeaky and jangly so it's definitely nothing fancy, the lume is still good though.

The whole thing is brushed and had a few surface scratches so I used scotchbrite going from 800 grit up to about 2000 so very fine, it's still got signs of age but the biggest scratches are gone.

It's probably a cheaper grade of titanium which is soft enough to get out the scratches.

It's the only titanium watch in my collection and the only reason I have it is because I rescued it, I don't normally like titanium watches, the lightweight delicate feel to them puts me off, something about it feels less substantial.
