Is Yema a good brand of watches?

So I just found the brand Yema recently.

And now I am thinking about buying one of their watches since they arent oversized and look great.

But does anyone know about their inhouse movements? And are they worth it?

Hoping to hear from owners too, Yema is on my list as well.

I own 3. Two of them are Superman and one is a Wristmaster. All three have the YEMA2000 movement and I managed to break one of the Superman by dropping it in the bathroom.

The whole ordeal of getting an RMA, shipping to France and getting back by Superman after it was repaired and regulated took 3 weeks. To be honest, I had much worse service experiences from other brands with better reputation. All this was done by communicating in English through their chat, so it's not a case of receiving preferential treatment because I happen to be fluent in French.

You can check some of my previous posts if you want more information but for me Yema is in the clear.

I just ordered the Urban Traveler. If that’s the model you’re interested in happy to send you a note a few weeks after I receive it. Purchase process was smooth and my questions were answered promptly. Received a 10% discount as s first time customer and loyalty points.

Fratello posted a review of the watch yesterday, fwiw.

I would love a couple of notes 🙂 It is indeed the Urban Taveler that I am looking at.

Also just found the frattello article https://www.fratellowatches.com/hands-on-with-the-new-yema-urban-traveller-models-adding-affordable-80s-flair-to-the-collection/

I have a Superman quartz. Lovely watch, great customer service experience... some have raised QC issues a while ago but I didn't experience and issues at all

Thank you for the appreciation. I must confess here that I lived for some time in South Africa and this experience polished a lot of rough edges in my English. Whatever oddities remains are caused by my habit to construct English sentences using French grammar, something that doesn't work well in some cases.

Back to Yema: IMO, which everybody is free to dismiss, they do have problems with their after sales service, but one also has to consider that they it's an in-house service and that it was not outsourced to third parties. They have their own R&D and manufacturing facilities, and it means that they are one of the few brands that revived themselves not just in name but also as a fully operational entity. This is not something trivial to accomplish. So yes, they are not perfect, they can and should improve, but also they managed to do something that very few tried and succeeded to do - revive a nearly defunct watch brand.

Yema owner here; Burgundy Bronze Superman. A great watch, especially at the price point.

Some people have criticised the customer service on social media in the past, and it's now become one of those Internet things where, if someone mentions Yema, you get people (who don't own Yema watches, mind you), swarming in and declaring, "Customer service issues! Customer service issues!" and wobbling their head and running off, but dig below the surface and you will quickly find they have no experience.

I've written a long piece on this topic before, but the TL;DR version is, how many times have you needed the CS from a watch company? In many years, and dozens of watches, I never have, personally. So one of the things I considered when thinking about Yema and had the usual swarm of, "Customer service issues! Customer service issues!" people who don't actually own Yema watches, I thought to myself, "Even if these people are 100% right - which I actually doubt - will I ever use CS? Probably not!" And I bought the watch.

I love it. Well made. Looks good. Runs like a champion.

My brother was gifted a YEMA a couple years ago. It looks great, and he never had any issue with it so far! He loves it and wears it everyday.

·

I would say so. I have a Meangraf and it's a great watch.

·

Look at this thing!

I own the Yema Skin Diver and swim regularly with it, no issues so far (2 years). The watch was purchased from the local dealer in Singapore - Gnomonwatch, whom I trust and have purchased watches (Oris, Steinhart), straps, etc for more than a decade.

Sorry I can't help since I have zero experience with the brand. I've seen quite a few reviews on recent models which look interesting.

·

Thanks for the posts.

I think i am going to give them a shot 💸

I have one, a NavyGraf diver and I like it. I came with a MN elastic strap and a bracelet, both are comfortable. The bracelet has a stiff clasp, but works well once you are used to it. Runs within +5 sec/day. Finish is good, not at the level of luxury brands like Omega or Rolex, but nicely done, good bezel action. I’m happy with it.
