Help me understand

Hi all, hope everyone is having a day full of lust for their grail or any other watch you desire. Just curious and too lazy to do the research, but how does Rolex elaborate stores benefit them. As someone who only collects 99.9% Timex watches this is something that would never pertain to me, but still interested. I have visited two Rolex ADs in my lifetime both in NYC and both of them had very few watches on display and zero for sale. How does this make sense. The AD's were in the very high rent boutiques. They clearly are big enough to not have to play this game, why do they?

To get the newer and a little pricier Timex models, it seems to be strictly online, for the basic Timex, you can still get them at places like Target, but for the $200 plus models, the only place I saw them for sale is Costco and online. Why doesn't Rolex do an online model if they are not going to sell watches in their stores.

Thanks and have a great day.

Yeah, I will most likely get this Galli S2, but a little gun shy with the price. I believe it will be the first $1,000 Timex. I did spend $800 on American Documents Made Worn edition and kind of sorry I did. This one seems like it hit the bullseye!! I also like the Galli S1 which is half the price.

Rolex sells out before it even hits the shelf of the AD.. so the profit for the AD is guaranteed. Plus the profit margin is high enough that selling one Rolex to a preselected customer or grey market dealer is equal to selling 100 #timex pieces. They can say they don’t have anything for sale but each Rolex AD is constantly selling watches to their preferred clients.. it’s the magic or numbers..

This is very similar to flight ✈️ industry. They just have to sell all first class and business class tickets and they are in profit.. economy tickets is just additional income and if that was the only option, they have to sell a lot of them to make profit.

Rolex doesn’t have to market itself anymore by having online store.. the artificial scarcity that has been created does a good job for selling their product.

I've started to have an appreciation for Timex, they are really good looking watches.

The store is a commercial for the watch.

When you walk down 5th avenue or Beverly Hills there has to be a reminder that Rolex is inseparable from a culture of extravagance, because, as I recently examined, that is what they are selling.

That's great. I call it my anti-flex watch. Not to get too deep, but it is a way to remind myself to stay humble and not to take myself too seriously, and the ironic part is the Q Timex was the only watch I got a compliment on by a stranger, the other higher-end watches I used to own, nothing. lol. It's the Universe's way of telling me, stay humble my friend. lol. Lastly, they do make a fantastic looking watch especially for the prices they sell them. The last several years with their reissues of the Marlin, Q's and several in their Waterbury collection they are on a roll. I think I came back to them at the right time. At 59 years old, I still remember my first Timex.

I know right. I am not sure non-watch people are ready to spend $1,000 on a Timex though. I eventually will,

Thanks for the great replies everyone!

Because technically Rolex and that AD already made there money on all of their watches allocated to them for that year. They are already sold! Dosent make a difference if they are are available for sale in person or not. They already hit their nutt.

The reason why they don’t do an online model other than the fast expansion for fraud. Is the same reason why Nike has such an issue with in demand collectible snearkers. Within this day an age it would be too easy to see how much they were actually realeasing, and if you thought human scalpers/flippers image AI and all the bots buying up all the inventory in the matter of .9 seconds.

Also there are always Rolex available for sale. It may not be the one your requested but with the right ask and Rep, there will always be precious metal day dates in the back/ some two tone women’s sizes, and some 31-36 even 41 OPs. Just probably not the average stainless Sub. This is all in my experience at a larger AD.

Rolex is Rolex they gonna keep on doing what they do best they not gonna change for anybody. They are good watches no doubt they are the only watch company that plays the waiting game. In the past I walked in Rolex store on 5th Ave and got nothing but dirty looks from the AD.

Not surprised why some people would rather rather buy the super clone instead.
