Apollo 11 Launch Anniversary

Today is the 54th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch. Pictured, is retired astronaut Buzz Aldrin. He posted this pic today to commemorate the mission. We all know the Speedmaster lore of it, but pay attention to his wrists.

Does he have three Omega Speedmasters on? The two on the left appear to be speedys…one moon watch and one Sky Walker. Can’t tell the one on the right, but is definately a chronograph.

They just found his moon watch last year and I don’t believe he is in possession of it anymore. Perhaps these are the three remaining watches from his four missions?

I’m not certain what the one on his right hand is, I was not able to make that out either.

I think the original mission Speedmasters were NASA property and they belonged with NASA. You are probably right though, the agency probably misplaced it and found it.

Very cool!

·

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the OG Speedy's Acrylic?

Just sayin....🫣

Right on, thanks!

·

I think a new thread is in order to commemorate this where we all wear 3 watches and look like a stud doing it

·

Is that why I’m seeing omega moon watch videos all over YouTube??? 😂

I see what you did there.

@TimeToRide if he wants to start up a new triple wristing thread

Those were good days to be a six year old kid named Neil. Just sayin’.

My first boss in the Air Force was younger brother to Apollo astronaut Alfred Worden, Apollo 15 Command Module Pilot. Yes, speedies were supposed to be NASA property but more than a few astronauts held onto them. There was also a Chevy dealer who “leased” them custom painted Corvettes for $1/yr.

The ONLY issue is if I roll it your initial statement called for looking like a stud. Should I roll three watches I’ll look like the dork I am!

Preface it with the picture with Buzz…most people will post a crotch or steering wheel shot anyways 🤣

He needs another watch on his right wrist.

·

His Left: Apolo 11 50th Anniversary, X33 Marstimer

His Right: Skywalker X33 Chronograph
