My First Real Watch

Edit: this was an impulse buy. My previous post explained that I went in expecting to try on a Tudor. Never thought I’d buy a Rolex. The AD had never seen me before but said yes when I asked if they had a Rolex in stock

Almost a week with the Rolex Datejust 36. I had to take a photo for insurance, so I decided to take out the off-camera soft box and use my mirrorless Sony. I don’t have a macro lens (yet) so this is as close as I can get without cropping. Boy, do I pick expensive hobbies! Any recommendations for a macro lens for watches?

As for the watch, I think it was off my wrist for one night. Other than that, I’ve been wearing it every day and night. Also, keeping it hidden under my cuff, as to not attract attention.

A 50mm lens with Macro (Canon) is what I use for macros. Are you considering insurance?

Definitely getting insurance. Hear what happened again yesterday in midtown New York City? Another watch mugging. I don’t want to hesitate if someone asks for my watch. Even though it hides well under my cuff, soon it will be short sleeve weather

I live in the part of the US where we still leave doors unlocked and keys in the truck. It's alarming to see what's happening in the rest of world, London, NYC, etc.
