I Think I Died and went to Heaven
Oh boy, did I have fun today! It was very reckless of me, though. Kind of like someone on a diet going multiple bakeries. Just when I promised myself that I’d enjoy the watches I have and didn’t need anymore.
I went to a high-end shopping mall with my daughter where there were 8 watch boutiques. First stop, Patek. I drooled over their complications, but didn’t even bother to try any on. Way out of my league (until next visit). Then to Tudor to show my daughter all the Black Bays. Third stop: Rolex.
That’s when the trouble started. I tried on the GMT but it didn’t speak to me.
Then I asked to see the Sky Dweller. Big mistake. I fell in love.
Fortunately, all they could do is put me “on the list.”
Omega was next door. Browsing the display cases, I saw a Seamaster that I didn’t recognize. It was the limited edition (399] New York Skyline Seamaster. Take a look at this beauty:
I want it! Only $7600. I didn’t know how my wife would react, and besides, I would purchase this without her consent. So the sales associate put a catalog in an Omega shopping bag and I told him I’d see how my wife would react when I brought it home. I left it on the table for her to see when she came home. She didn’t even question me! She said “I just figured you bought a new watch.”
So there you have it. A fun day, but it may have killed my watch diet!

You look like a happy boy visiting toy shops 😂 And I understand exactly how you feel. The only retailers that bring me immense joy is luxury ADs. I had a blast at Omega and Breitling late last year.

Didn’t buy it. I really did just make a New Year’s resolution to enjoy my two favorite watches (a Datejust and a Black Bay) more. I’m trying to see how long I can go wearing just two watches. It would be pretty sad if I broke my resolution on January 2.

It’sa bit of a trip north for me, but I was in the neighborhood. First time there in many many years. I should go more often. I can’t believe all the luxury stores there. I didn’t have time for Cartier, Breitling, and IWC. Also, stock was low because of the Christmas shopping last month.
