I was looking at the Nomos Club but is 38mm. Not sure if is going to be too small for my like. Gonna need to try it.
Simple yet effective
36mm but wears more like a 38 because of the lug to lug and shoulder breadth. Still smaller than your range, but Traska is incredible value for money!

The Citizen NB1050-59H has been on my radar for some time now.

Or the Oris Propilot. I’m fortunate enough to own this one. The sunburst dial is just noticeable without being too flashy. Msrp is a killer now that they raised their prices (again). But they can be seen on eBay around $1000 or less.

I have relatively small wrist but even 39 mm is small in my opinion, 38 mm is what kept me from buying club campus in the past

I picked up the FC Highlife in grey / blue about a month back and am really impressed - more impressed than I expected to be. The dial is a bit of a changeling and goes from grey to a gunmetal to black depending on the light. It's worth a look.
The Oris Pro-pilot is also über impressive and @dsoyke is onto a winner imo too.
