Do you Prefer Microbrands or Established?

Both

Established, unless it's a very good micro (Farer, CW,Monta etc - basically not the "entry level" Chinese clomage's)

·

Depends. There are many established brands who are "lost their ways" in terms of pricing, style direction and quality. There are some who are "righting the ship". Microbrands are also reputation based but the addition of value for money.

I look at it from the support point of view. When it breaks, which is easier to fix (not necessarily less expensive, but less hassle)? Established brands have better infrastructure set up. But, that does not me I'll say no to a microbrand that I like.

How about established micro brands.

Depends on the watch

I am seeing fewer micro brands that are offering that ~$500 exceptional watch which is just a no brainer. Micros are trying to differentiate themselves and also appease enthusiasts that expect extraordinary design, premium movements and exceptional finishing on the cheap.

Inevitably, a number of micros are producing models that consistently start in the $800-$1000 price range. That’s fine and some offerings are great. However, in that range, I’m looking at Mido, Seiko, Christopher Ward and Formex too.

At that price I think is tough for microbrands because you can start finding used Oris, Lonfines, Doxa, etc. Which offer a higher quality most of the times

American muscle cars (with parts sourced from Asia)

Or

European/Japanese performance cars (with parts sourced from Asia)

🤪✌️

Both.

The heritage of established brands is great but some feel like they’ve gone away from the things that I like about them. Usually in terms of very high pricing. Seiko is my overall favorite brand but some of their offerings are definitely showing signs of price inflation without an increase in quality. The story, long history, and the name recognition are all great

I like the value options offered by the micro brands with consistent high spec sheets and much more innovative designs at the cost of this history and name recognition. There’s also the concern if there’s a warranty issue they may or may not be around in 5 years which is rarely a concern with the big brands

I love both.

·

Both but I’m in a microbrand stretch for now, will see if it change
