I am considering a Longines hydroconquest GMT but I’m not quite sure whether it’s for me or not, so I’m curious what others think about the watch.

Not for me, too big. I’ll stick to my 39mm regular HC
I think you've answered your own question.
If you're not sure, don't buy.

Almost the same dimensions as the Submariner. Just as good looking and great brand. What's not to like?
No, but I'm a bit funny about indices and date windows.
Instead, buy the OG. A neovintage Omega SMP. It’s never wrong ✅
Maybe you have the chance to try it on your wrist at the AD. Dont stress your decision, take your time.
Got my Hydro as my first watch, love it. Also thinking about the GMT lately, such nice dials, dimensions and clasp upgrade :)
The dial of this watch has some of the worst symmetry in the industry and it boggles my mind that such a design was pushed to production.
The round indices at 6 and 9 have less visual weight than the basic batons for the other indices which defeats the purpose. They should have been bigger batons or triangles like the 12 indice to serve as visual aid.
The date window is square instead of round to echo the 9 indice and creates a lot of negative space on the dial. I hate it.
I like it but I would rather have the Zulu GMT
Zulu time for me
I actually liked the look of this so much I bought a vintage Longines diver that looked similar, but the new releases are just too big for my taste. This one is 38mm:
Now just waiting on Longines to send it back after its extensive servicing...
