Hello

My husband started being interested in watches in the first lockdown, and he encouraged me to look for a watch to wear for my late 1940s outfit for going to Goodwood Revival. I found a couple I really liked, a Kienzle and a Ruhla, though dated slightly later, and it snowballed from there :-)

I like vintage watches, from Art Deko to 1950s and early 1960s, have a weak spot for Vostok, and colourful and quirky watches.

From everything you've said I think we are already best friends. 😁

Welcome to WC!

Welcome! That's a really cool watch!

I've been to Goodwood just once... though it was for a much more dorky reason. My partner brought us for my birthday to the Brompton World Championships hahaha.

And it's a warm welcome from me, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself on here and we'll enjoy your watches.

@Aurelian is your source for Russian info and bargains. If you ever want to go down the vintage Swiss route, just whistle.

You know how to whistle, don't you?

Welcome! I got started in 2020 during lockdown as well. I wish I could get my wife to wear something other than her Fitbit.

·

Welcome, I also directed my wife to the taste for watches, now I regret a little because she has taken somewhat special tastes (joke), that Kienzle is a very interesting brand and with a lot of heritage German watches of good manufacture that broke in the quartz crisis.

Special tastes as in expensive, or difficult to find? :-)

I have a Kienzle wall clock from the 1930s, inherited from my grandfather, it used to hang in his study, and I love having an inch size watch of the same brand. I also discovered I really like small round and domes watches.

I suspect my husband also sometimes regrets introducing me to watches ;-)

Fitbit and apple watch… I simply do not like their design, and I do’t really want to carry a computer on my wrist :-) I used to wear a watch up to my mid twenties and then with the arrival of mobiles with clock functions got out of the habit of wearing a watch. I’m very happy I found my way back to it

Seems like he caught a "bug" more serious than what caused the lockdown! :P

In both ways, she's now in the lead with a gold Universal Geneve Polerouter with microrotor and it's her next goal!
