Well…

Ok fine…I was at the verge of pulling the trigger to get the Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo until the owner of the AD I go to that I’ve known for many years told me to try this SPB147 on… he said he knows me long enough to know that I might regret if I go for the Citizen…

Man, as soon as I held the Seiko in hand it feels and looks night and day vs the Citizen. Seiko wins in every aspect like craftsmanship… now I’m back to square one with the dilemma… the Seiko is about $200 more after the generous discount for both watches…. Now it’s Promaster vs Prospex… I do not know how to decide what to go with… it’s mentally impossible

Id go Seiko. Long term joy and just a versatile watch.

Sounds to me like if you bought the Citizen, every time you look down you’d wish it was the Seiko.

I also have a feeling that if I went with the Seiko and each time I stare down I’d ponder what if it was the Citizen🤣

I have the SPB239 which I bought to replace my BB58 and it is currently my favourite in the collection. Its the Seiko dials and really well done colorways which just makes them one step better.

Nope, mine is the SPB239 which comes with two natos and got released after the 147. Gilt accents but with a sunburst black dial and silver hands/indices unlike the gold finish on the 147.

Oh wow I just did some research on the 62mas reissues. Confusing stuff. I think I’m leaning more towards your 239 variant 🙈 you were supposed to help me troubleshoot with my dilemma… not add another variant into the equation… I just texted my AD and he also has the 239 in stock… 🙈🙈😂

The 143 and 147 are the most popular ones along with the 297 blue birch variant.

I bought my SPB239 during Christmas last year and I got a very good deal for $975 including the factory bracelet since the model comes with two natos. It's more subtle than 147 with silver accents. You can't go wrong with either variant.

The AD wants you to buy the more expensive Seiko because they are likely harder to sell, being more expensive and an odd colourway. If he was pushing a SPB143, or 239(more popular and easier to sell models) I'd have more faith in his judgement.

Quite the opposite, the SPB239 is actually the most underrated model in the 62mas lineup and most people don't know it exists because of the 147 which is part of the permanent lineup since the introduction of this generation 62mas. The 147 is the most popular along with the 143 and the Save the ocean model. Plus the SPB147 is the least expensive of all the 62mas variants compared to the 239 which is the same price as the SPB143.

Seiko is far better than the Citizen, which is a solid watch in its own right. SPB 62MAS will prove a long term success I believe. Superb dimensions and wearability.

All those dudes going "seiko", probably due to who climbed everest first... Citizen Jet... First proper WR watch outta japan. 1959?

So I'd go for the citizen. The seiko looks expensive. The Citizen looks almost priceless. Don't get me wrong, I'd have the 4k 62MAS over either of these two, but in the around 1k price range I WILL be getting the NB6025-59H. If I can find one.

I love both. Ended up going with the Seiko SPB147 which I’m still on the r honeymoon phase today. Both the price was similar. Wasn’t a substantial difference. Around $150CAD difference. The Seiko felt more substantial on the wrist due to the titanium on the Citizen and the rubber strap. It felt lighter than my Casio vintage I still love the citizen. I will not be surprised if I pick that up too in the near future.

But for now, my Tudor ad just called and said they have a Pelagos LHD for me. First things first! 😄
