I have seen the light

I was yesterday out for a walk with my girlfriend. After lunch and an espresso martini for each we were feeling brave enough to come into a Watches of Switzerland store and try on some pieces. My gf went for the Cartier Panthére in small and medium, I went for the Grand Seiko SBGP005 and a spring drive one I didn’t note the reference number down.

First time I had a GS on my hands. Quartz caliber 9F85. Nothing against that. Beautiful deep blue dial, that it appeared black when I chose that piece to try on. Light-feeling bracelet. And then…

Zaratsu.

My eyes filled with the light reflected from the ceiling at the AD in thousand directions. Sparks of light at every tenth of a degree of rotation of my wrist from a straight polished and cut case like none other has ever adorned my wrist. I felt my wrist was privileged to have been touched by such a watch case. I had to reach for the glass of water I got served.

I’m trying to save up for a good GADA luxury piece. A 2010s Aqua Terra with vertical striping is still headlining my wish list, but it might be too late. I have seen the light.

The SBGP003 has a matte black dial, I have an older model but these are superior movements due to the independently adjustable hour hand, they do be the best GADA watch in my opinion, worth every penny.

I think the ceiling lights at every AD are positioned to make any watch sparkle!

Absolutely right! It’s difficult to forget that until you try to take pics of the watches you’re trying on and can’t barely see the dial.

Stunning!

The Zaratsu finishing is already legendary, but those broad surfaces on the 44GS case just take it to a new level.

I hate those bastards. Every day I have to walk five miles. On my fifth mile I get to go look at the Doxas. They have hard sold me so bad, but I just can't pay that much. I always feel like Tiny Tim staring through the toy shop window........
