Hey Crunchers, I'm new here and although I worn watches for most of my life and owned more than one or two the entire time I'm fairly new to collectin...
I chose G Shock because although my first watch wasn't a G Shock, one soon followed and since then I've always had at least one and at one time five. So they did kind of open the gate to collecting in a way and I can't ever see myself not having a G Shock or two in the box so I also see it as the gatekeeper.
No offense but my first recommendation would be don't waste any more money on fashion watches. My second would be to go on Amazon and check out what Seiko and Orient have to offer for under $200. I'm sure you'll find something you like that will definitely be better quality and be more reliable than any fashion watch.

For someone who doesn't own either you make some very good points. Most of which I fully agree with and have considered. The seconds hand and overall design of the B300 are both big pros to me as are the thinness and the bracelet on the B400.
As for how they wear, I have an 8 inch wrist so they both wear well.
The one thing I haven't considered is keeping both lol, and now I'm actually thinking about it 🤣🤣🤣
