Yep, I 2nd that. Try not to run any more water through the sink and take the trap off to see if it stopped there.
If it’s down the drain, there might be a u-Shaped pipe under the sink. If you can do this, throw a bucket under the sink to catch any water that might spill out and loosen the fittings holding the u-shaped pipe in place. Remove the pipe and see if the link is in there. Obviously, don’t run the garbage disposal if there is one, and don’t run torrents of water or the end link could flow right past that u-shaped “trap” and out into the great beyond.
If there’s a garbage disposal, there’s a chance the piece hasn’t even gone down into the pipe yet. You might see it if you look. Disconnect the disposal from electricity if you can and use an implement (not your fingers) to see if you can retrieve the link.
Forgive me if I’ve told you what you already know.
Is it the garbage disposal side or just drain. As above if plain drain it’s in the trap, if garbage disposal shut electricity off to disposal shine a flashlight down there. Should be able to grab it which needle nose plyiers.

go to the hardware store and get one of those magnet things on a flexible wand ... they're only a few bucks. I've fished metal stuff out of drains with one of those on a few occasions
