Where do you shop?

Buying online is always a risk in my opinion for many reasons.

What’s your most trusted online watch dealer for new or used watches?

I've gotten a couple from Jomashop, which has been a good experience. Also got one from Ashford. They were okay, just a little slow on the shipping, but the watch was great.

For the price range I shop at, ebay

On line I’ve either bought from the manufacturer or from Chrono24. Only 2 purchases, but Chrono24 has worked out so far.

I have bought and then sold back like 20 breitling, omega, grand seiko, and Rolex through Seth & Company. Can’t recommend Seth highly enough! There are a few others here on WC who work through Seth as well!

Hi there Tito.

Shopping in Japan is an excellent online place to buy Japanese Domestic (and rest of the world) watches. They sell Orient, Citizen, Seiko and Casio. Not EVERY watch from these manufacturers, but a good range. The turn around time is about 4 days! They use DHL so obviously there’s a delivery fee.

I wouldn’t buy an automatic or vintage watch from eBay as you have no idea how well (or not) the watch has been looked after. If it’s a digital watch, I don’t think there would be any issues on eBay though if vintage, you might want to confirm that the buttons and sounds and functions work.

Finally, I recently purchased a Seiko automatic divers watch from StarBuy.com.au. They too are excellent and are priced in AUD which most currencies are stronger against! Their main brands are Oris, Squale, Seiko, Citizen, Casio and others. I paid AUD410 for a Seiko Turtle which is probably around 50 bucks elsewhere! Actually, the Australian dollar isn’t THAT bad!

When you use shipping in Japan, how do they handle the import duties? TIA.

Hi there JC.

Shopping in Japan uses DHL as their transport company and DHL send an email if you need to pay import tax. It’s an easy straightforward process. N

Got lucky with my first Omega from a vintage watch dealer through Etsy, other was a Seiko mod and works great as well. I was a gamble and worked out. The next online purchase was from Swisswatchexpo and that was a good experience. 2 other online purchases were of microbrand ERA and they were directly from the website. Rest have been through ADs.
