Collection Flashback Post - Post your early collection with a date.

My flashback is from 1983. At that point in time I didn't even consider myself a "Collector" or "Watch Idiot Savant."

People ask how you start collecting? In my case this 1983 group is as close it gets to how I started. I did have some earlier pieces, but unfortunately only the Autavia has survived.

>>Post your flashback, even if its more recent.<<

This will unfortunately not get as much traction as it deserves. No (very few) digital photographs from before the 2010s.

You're probably correct, but that doesn't mean the question shouldn't be asked.

I have faith someone will want to share....lol

Furiously digging through my old photo albums from the 80's but so far nothing clear enough to tell whether the bright blob is a Swatch or one of those silly yarn"Friendship"bracelets that one of my ex's gave me instead of a "real" gift.

"Collecting" wasn't on my radar screen until 2019 though I still have a few Swatch watches and two Bulovas from a decade when I had more hair and less gut.

I've posted it before but this Marine Star was my GADA in the 80's.

Fantastic! You can see that watch has seen some action. That even wear all over is the sure mark of being worn and loved a lot!

From a rock climbing, skydiving to actually scuba diving throughout the south pacific. Oh to be young again! BTW I've never seen another Marine Star with 660 WR and quartz was still seen as cutting edge.

Swatch on the other hand was for acid washed jeans and popped collar polos. A bit embarrassing but true.

I can't recall seeing one of those Marine Star watches before, rare then and even rarer now.

My 80’s vintage watches. Both of them are ticking away in a drawer right now.

The Seiko’s are no longer working?

They still work and I wear them just too lazy to set them for the photo.
