What is or are your beater watches?

If you are reading this you probably have the same hobby / addiction as I do. Watches in all shapes and sizes.

Scour the internet for hours and then find something you want. My collection now consists of 31 pieces (I once said I would stop at 24 because then the watch box would be full, but that didn't work :-).

To make room in my box, I have now removed 6 watches from my collection that I label as my 'beater watches', 6 pieces that I no longer wear to work / leisure or in general in public. Because I don't like them anymore (or for whatever reason) but getting rid of them is also difficult and often these are the clocks that I bought for fun and that turned out not to be so fun.

Ps. This does not concern the 2 Citizin divers, which are my 2 OG beaters. But I bought the other 4 as a joke, but they are no longer allowed to be part of my permanent rotation collection

But I'm curious what are or is your beater watches?

Not fun enough anymore, but still good for chores.

That feeling I share. You beater becomes you most ‘grabed’

That citizen has a gorgeous blue dial. Mind sharing the reference?

My beater is my Tag Aquaracer quartz. Expensive for a beater? Yes. But it was my only watch for quite a while, and so the bracelet swiftly got scratched in the swimming pool. Later when I got into Tudor, GS and now IWC, I wanted to keep those in good condition - the GS in particular, as you can imagine, although I'm not precious with the Pelagos as you don't notice marks so much on the beasty dull titanium.

So all sport, cycling and swimming is done with the Tag. The bezel has faded a lot from the Malaysian sun, the bracelet is thoroughly scratched up, but it still makes me smile when I see the blue dial catching the rays. It's doing what it's supposed to do - and being a quartz, it can take any punishment. It's a keeper

This beauty is my beater. Love the look and feel, but won’t worry if it gets banged up.

Any watch is a beater watch if you don't care about it enough. I have a few. If you follow my WRUW, you'll have seen them.

I don't beat on any of my watches intentionally. I am, however, on record admitting my clumsiness. The work I do is not overly strenuous or hazardous to watches. I seem to reach into places without enough consideration or start jobs that can be harmful without taking the watch into account. But since every watch is about a hundred bucks they might all be considered "beaters". (The San Martin was a bit more.)

I don't have a beater, I treat all of my watches with equal wear and respect. If I know that I will be doing something that will damage the watch (like wrenching on the car) I take my watch off and stow it properly.
