Citizen Eco-Drive

Planning to add a citizen into the collection. I don’t want an automatic, just want a simple Eco-drive watch that is simplistic and does the job right.

What would be your recommendations?

Seiko Speedtimer...quartz and solar.

Sometimes you just want a grab and go watch.

Im contemplating, because Citizen is made well known for their Eco-drive.

Not saying Seiko’s solar is anywhere bad, but there is also a concern in regards to how much it costs. 🥹

If you have a budget below $500, I would go with one of the Citizen Eco-drive models. Plenty to choose from. The Eco-drive Promaster Fugu variants and Garrison (Field style) are some of the best ones with great dimensions you can get for $250-400. From Seiko, the 38mm Prospex models SNE569/571/573/575/583 are great for under $500 plus these come with sapphire crystals compared to the Citizen Eco-drive models.

Above $500, I would just get the Seiko Speedtimer since you can find them for $600 or so depending on your place. Or go for an entry level Astron model.

Citizen Calendrier. A few different colorways. What I like about it when you really look at it closely is the level of detail and refinement to this watch. Combination sport watch, dress watch. Looks great in a suit or in a pair of jeans. And all under 500 bucks, around $300 usd.+ Solar and 200m water resistant.

Also the Brycen Chrono gives a really great sporting heritage vibe

I have a relatively small wrist. 6.7" and it fits just fine because the lug to lug is under 50mm.

Thanks for these amazing recommendations! 🥰Yup, cant go wrong with either Citizen or Seiko, but my direction most probably heading towards Citizen route. I already have 2 Seiko in my collection, so planning to add another Citizen very soon.

What’s the diameter on this? It looks quite versite as it gives me the impressthat it could be either dress up for dress down depending on the strap. Haha!!

I see… very similar to most Seiko watches, they wear relatively well because the lug to lug are mainly smaller than what the diameter indicates. Hahaha!!

Got plenty of eco-drive models to choose from with Citizen. Don't know what style you are after but the Skyhawk models are very good too if you like lot of functions.

If you are going for a diver, get the Whaleshark model in the picture you posted. Its stunning a lot of watch for money. Myself looking to find one of those limited edition models, missed it when they were available.

I recently got this Citizen CB0260-81L for 450 euros. I was looking for a clean-dialed solar watch with a perpetual calendar.

This one is solar, titanium with Duratect coating, sapphire crystal, 100 m WR, radio-controlled with 6 worldwide stations, perpetual calendar with world time and automatic daylight saving time, hand position correction, and with 2 years power reserve with automatic power save function.

The only missing points in my opinion are AR coating and lume.

The build quality and finish is top-notch and I am very happy with it. It's truly a set-and-forget watch. I wasn't very sure about the titanium case due to being so light, but I really like it, for an everyday watch is really comfortable and a change from stainless steel weight.

There are other similar models which are JDM only (not this one), you just have to be careful because some of them only receive Japanese radio station signals.

I have two of the Promasters. One in raw TITANIUM (black dial) with DLC coating and the dark grey with blue dial and DLC coating. I really like this rugged style and the finish on these is impeccable for the money. Excellent choice.

Yeah, im looking into promaster series as well, they are more water resistant and durable for the money.

Prodiver is probably a great choice, but the perpetual calendar models are nice too if looking for a more dressy option

·

Still on wishlist. Whaleshark. Got myself first the Orca. BN0230-4E
