I Need to Appreciate What I Have!

With all the internal mental issues regarding my wants for a Rolex dive watch, I went ahead and did some research for a black dial diver that had short lugs like the Rolex.

This Longines Hyroconquest was my first watch over $1000. I didn’t regard this as a comparable standard black dial diver since those lugs are so pronounced. Since this was one of my earliest purchases in my collection, I didn’t have any interest in Rolex early on. But now it’s perfect for me. I wore it all day and I try not to worry about the personal stigma of the cost of this watch. I mean, shit, I wear my just as expensive Seiko watches every chance I get. I guess I have been babying this piece.

I definitely feel stupid for not realizing that this watch is a great watch. Looking for another black dial that has anatomical presence of a Rolex diver wasn’t a good idea right now. BUT is it a bad idea? Well, I’m gonna say no, it’s a great idea. I mean, if you are like so many on the waiting list with purchase history, your name will be called up in 1-3 years.  Get that black dial diver beater(s). I just have to appreciate what I have had all along.

Just an FYI… I did like the Mido 600 or the Steinhart Titanium 500 as possible options for my taste in what a Rolex consolation beater watch would look like.

It took me a while, but I discovered I enjoy watches I like wearing far more than watches I think I should like wearing.

thats a good watch, wear it proudly my friend 🍺

You can't really go wrong with Longines. Very nice pieces.  Enjoy.

Looks great. I cant see why but it seems soo many people are just wanting Rolex. Even longines is fairly expensive brand for an average wage earner. Just use it and not worry about getting it scratched

·

That’s an awesome watch! Congratz on adding it to your collection! The same watch is in my short list along with Legend Diver and Sector Dial too. Probably will take some time before I can acquire them 😂. Enjoy your watch!🍻

The hydroconquest is a great watch and backed by a brand with a long an illustrious history, love my blue faced one, wear it with pride.

We could all do with this sentiment. It’s so easy to look for the ‘next’ watch without appreciating the hardship in obtaining the pieces we all have in our own collections and the level in enjoyment in owning and wearing them too.

I hope you enjoy your Longines for many many more years to come!

Appreciating what we have is the key to watch collection.  If we fail to do so we are creating a situation of never being satisfied.  One of my early purchases is a Ball Trainmaster.  Sometimes I think I might like something else to take it’s place in my collection.  This usually happens when I have’t had it out in awhile, and keep seeing endless advertising (either open ads or subtle influences like YouTube videos always showing the latest/greatest).  Then I put the Ball on the wrist and realize that this watch does everything that I needed and wanted for this spot in the collection, and the interest in the other watch is just advertising and marketing influence.

Now, I take the approach of trying to appreciate my current watches more before I consider a new purchase.  I think it saves me money and the endless disappointment of chasing the winds of marketing.

It's a superb watch ... Looks awesome on your wrist.... Longines is a brand with loads of Heritage and success. Congrats 👏

I love my blue dialled Hydro conquest but I do feel that the bezel is a bit stiffer than it should be, any other Hydro conquest owners have the same thought?

·

That Longines is gorgeous and you should be wearing the heck out of it.  As for Rolex- "She's lost that loving feeling" for me anyway.

·

I say or think about this every day. It doesn't only apply to watches. Also to life.  "Be thankful for what you have.  Don't bitch about what you don't.  This helps keep centered. It may not work for you.

I just received mine yesterday after having a similar epiphany. So far I am really liking this watch! It's a bit heavy but definitely wears comfortably. I think she's a keeper!
