A tale of two submariners

Been going back and forth on a no date sub and the new 216610LV date. I'd love your thoughts and any experiences you might like to share.

EDIT:

Additional context: I'm an operating engineer Im Hard on my watches. I wear essentially eveything in my collection.

Currently looking at the black no date as a great do it all watch work and post work. However,The green pop if color is very cool and i love color. Tge mk2 seems more collectable and desirable in certain areas which makes me think it might be unwise to daily and beat on it. Again, thanks for your time helping my watch obsession. Cheers.

No-Date FTW!

Love the green bezel. It’s the color of Rolex. The no date is the closer watch to the original and you really can’t go wrong with it though.

Both gorgeous

I don't have the submariner because when I was finally able to buy it was already the lists gate, however I got a black GMT Master II that has the look of the Submariner 🤣🤣🤣🤣, therefore I do like the black one better

I bought a sub because I was able to justify the differences between the explorer II and the green bezel sub although they are still very close. If I had this black gmt they are way to close to justify that purchase lol. Killer watch

No Date is the best Sub

·

Love green but gotta go no date!

·

You can't go wrong with any of the two. However, if you match your outfit with the watch you wear it's difficult to match the Rolex Kermit unless you do wear a lot of green accents. Good luck with your search and choice. Stay Thirsty My Man 🍻👊🏽

Great watch! I have the same. It's so underrated in that GMT Master II line up.

No date

·

I vote no date. At least, that’s the one I would want. Cleaner, and since I already don’t “need” watches, I don’t “need” a date.

·

I vote for the green bezel sub. I love the no date sub. I don’t have a green bezel sub, so I can live vicariously through you.

·

History is kind to green bezels. It will be sought after for years to come

·

I think a black sub should always be no date but a Kermit or a other green bezel Sub is a variation which is okey with cyclops. I also dont mind the cyclops on a datejust or a gmt …. But a black bezel sub should be without a date.

·

No date is more a daily suitable one, but green bezel is the I don‘t give a sh#t watch

·

I love the black sub but it is a watch you see quite often on a day to day basis. Last year on a family holiday in Spain , I saw 50+ people wearing a black sub ( date and no date ). The green bezel sub is personally something I see alot less therefore making it abit more special in my eyes. Both are amazing but the green is beautiful, I wear mine more than any of my other watches 👌🏽

No date is class

·

The black no-date Submariner is, to me, one of the two most classic, revered, and all-around BEST watches of all time (the other being an Omega Moonwatch). 👍

Definitely a thought about collectability. Kinda going back on if I want the sub to be a daily driver as I'm a blue collar operating engineer. I've was using a pelagos for a period of time now for personal reasons it's not going to get beat on. To me the black no date is the perfect companion. Tough enough (hopefully) for daily wear classy enough to go with a suit. But something about the pop of green makes me navigate towards the new mk2 dial. If I really wanna beater I can scoop a black fxd. Decision decisions. Lol thanks for sharing

Exactly. I'm leaving towards the green with a follow up purchase of a black fxd to daily and beat
