SOTC 2023

Looking back at my collections, i tried to love every single piece of them. That's why i only add one in my collection this year, and it is a gift from my parents.

My collections from upper left to bottom right:

1.Orient Symphony 4

My parents gave it for my 21st birthday last year. Imo a good spec for the money since it has a sapphire crystal. And i love the blue dial, tho the hands tend to disappear when the light isn't right.

2. Vostok Komandirskie 350504

A big fan of Russia (no politics involved), that's why i bought this watch as a cheaper alternative to Sturmanskie Gagarin. I found that watch in some random store in a shopping mall in Jakarta, and it opened my window to watchws, especially in Russian watchmaking. But the price is still a bit higher for me. So when i found that there's a cheaper Russian watch brand, i immediately buy it. A little hard to find back then, and even now after the sanctions.

3. Rhythm VA1518S

Rhythm is a pretty known Japanese brand here, and kind of underrated for their clocks. But the watches are your typical fashion watches, though still have good specs. This is my first automatic watch, powered by Seiko NH35 movement. A little bit out of love with this watch but i'll try to wear it again more often.

4. Seiko SNE141P1

Newest addition to my collections, this is the graduation gift from my parents. The first solar and titanium watch i have ever owned, and the one dominating my wrist since its arrival...

5. Portee "Max Bill"

Found this on an online shop, interested, and then bought it only to realised that the second hand doesnt hit the markers. I mean, for USD30 what could i expect. Not really in my regular rotation but i wear it sometimes.

6. Daniel Wellington "Calatrava"

I Know, i know, "how dare you to have DW in your collection", I'm sorry kay? I just like the way it looks, and it does look classy enough in my collections.

7. Commando

Part of my teenage collections, i bought this back in my highschool year because "ooh flashy, RM lookalike".

8. Vintage Seiko Quartz

I don't really know the serial number, but this is my amazing uncle's watch. He wore this pretty regularly back then. I don't want the memories to be faded so i add this to my collections when he passed away.

9. Casio AQ-230

My Casio Tank. Pretty classy for the price. Sadly the strap's clasp is broken, and i tried to find a subtitute but sadly there are no shops that sell an 18mm strap long enough for my arms. I'll try to find it again so i can wear it again.

10. Alexandre Christie

My daily driver back in my highschool year. It is a famous fashion watch brand here, that's why mom bought me that for a gift. I didn't wear it again because the hands and the chrono hands are pretty flimsy now.

11. Casio AQ-800

My girlfriend bought me that as out 1st anniversary. I'm thankful enough for her. Wore it on my job training too much until the case is full of scratches, but those give the watch a personality.

12. Casio A700

I'm a sucker for thin watches, that's why this was in my radar for some times. Really like how it feels in my arms too.

13. Casio CA-53W

Big fan of Back to the Future franchise, that's why i bought this watch and the DeLorean miniature.

14. Casio A168WGG-1BDF

Christmas present from me for me. Wanted to try watch with a negative display, that's why i bought this.

15. "Swiss Army" Quartz

My first ever watch. I was a big fan for military style watches back in highschool and this was my starting point.

16. Casio AE-1200

My travel watch whenever i want to go hiking, swimming, to the beach, or crossing timezones. It does the job pretty well.

So these are my watches, thankyou for you who have read this far.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all! God bless.

Samuel.

Nice mix. A Duro would slot in nicely 😉
