For me it depends on the Watch type. A tool/sport watch I think it’s ok ✅
Dress watches can without.
But one thing for sure is a deal breaker.. the execution. At 3 6 and 12 it is mostly cool 😎 4 or surely 4:30 I can go itchy about it. It must have negative space around it or in logical in lay-out. Next to some text. But never cramped up.
There are some exceptions of course, when the whole dial is full of info. Flightmaster etc.
This is all cool and such butt, I rarely set the date (lazy) and if I want to know the date, I check my phone 📱😌
If I want to know the day… it’s holiday or I’m seriously drunk 😜😂

In the beginning of my collection I bought everything I fancied. One day I saw a Favre Leuba Diver. For a few dollars 💵 I was in doubt but since it came from India 🇮🇳 my thoughts were like:mmh 🧐 50 dollar for an (to me) unknown brand. But In India it still is a amount of money. When I bought the watch and cleaned it and it worked (check the Aurelian acquisition rules) I was seriously happy. But then I read more about certain brands ORIS, F-Leubra etc. How they were mismatched etc. So in serious doubt and clouded my happiness.
Purely coincidence that I had the watch on my wrist when picking up my restored Bulova by the jeweller. I told him my story. He checked it and told me that he was a certified dealer back in the days.
And the watch was genuine and in fairly good condition… the sun started to shine again. I bought others who broke down but one thing…
Never ever I will let my happiness be clouded again. 😌
When I put down the money it is gone. If you go to the casino 🎰 it’s the same. A hunt, a few shots and mostly money gone.
The better you control your urges, the more you study the better prepared. But it is still a gamble.
