Incredibly ballsy on the perp's part to attempt some Ocean's 11 move in person. No talking your way out of that if the buyer double checks the envelope.
Once counted the money should have gone right in his pocket. I'd think it odd that the buyer would take it and put it back in the envelope. Big red flag. Esp when you had it in 15 piles of 1,000.
I realize that hindsight is 20-20 vision but...........

The rubber band was to deter that. Con artists are really good at what they do. And 99.9% of the people aren't trying to con you so the "honest and transparent" counting out of money seems legit and we trust it. Still sucks.
That sucks...honestly why I rarely buy and sell privately. I understand you get the most out of a private sale but you also take on all the risks. It's not worth it in my opinion, take it into a professional reputable preowned dealer. You're not "losing" money, you're hiring a professional to take on all the risks on your behalf and you get complete peace of mind.
This POS has been doing this for a couple of years now. On TRF they have pix of the guy and the authorities have been alerted. The old adage applies: โbuy the seller and not the watchโฆโ

Itโs not. If youโre good enough at sleight of hand, you can do it 2 inches from their eyes and theyโd never know.
Love Chronographs, tool, military, vintage and field watches. Love the hunt when buying a new one. Here to learn and enjoy everyoneโs collection. Only have 3 watches so more of an enthusiast than a co...
