Watches that enthousiasts like but not me...

We all have been in this situation when all enthousiasts are crazy about a new release that makes sensation, or simply an iconic model. For example, I don't understand the succes of the seiko 5 gmt. OK It's a good price for a true gmt but It's ugly (in my opinion of course). The orange/black one being the ugliest of all. I realy don't like the big gmt hand on these models. I have to said it.

My next victim is the recent Omega speedmaster professional. I know I will get killed for having said such unpopular opinion. My arguments are that this watch is just to simple in my opinion. Ok the case shape and bracelet are cool but on dial, there is nothing appeal to me. I like their more original models.

The last one that I don't like is the AP royal oak skeleton. It just that it seems like all the very cheap skeleton watches have the same dial design than this AP. So I unvolontarly see this design as bad quality and bad taste.

That's all I finish to enumerate my disgust about these famous watches. I hope I don't hurt your feeling by clashing your icons. Now, what about you ? Do you have a different opinion than the majority about some watch ?

Let's see:

Submariner

PRX

Alpinist

Seiko Monster

Every Squale made

Steinhart except the Titanium Ocean One-cases too flat, bezels horrifically tight

GSAR-have owned three but they are just too thick

All Ball watches. Have owned at least four.

Breiting Navitimer. It's way to busy and hard to read.

“Enumerate my disgust” has become my new favourite phrase!

I own the orange Seiko5 GMT and I think it's quite striking (obviously). We all have different tastes and that's a good thing. Enjoy what you enjoy. Ignore what you don't.

Cannot understand the love in the general community for the Omega AT and all the many iterations. I like and own Omega watches but the AT doesn’t appeal to me for no obvious reasons.

·

The Speedy is on my list. The reduced because of my wrist size.

Even if I had the money to buy an AP, I would buy the classic blue one. Again, my wrist is too small and so is my bank account.

Seiko have now become overpriced.

On the affordable category I would include the Tissot PRX. It looks and feels cheap.

I also don’t understand the Speedy love, I have no desire to own one.

The SSK are great, cheap caller GMTs (not a true GMT). I’ve owned several.

Really happy with my PRX ice blue.

I understand the aqua terra is not ugly but I don't find it incredible.

Panerai, Movado, Raymond Weil, Baume Mercier, Oris, Tissot, Patek, AP don't do it for me

Yes I also forgot panerai but I not because a their design. It's more about their marketing about their story telling.

saved up wanted it bought it sold it bought a Seamaster

This sounds funny it was impressive how unimpressed I was with the watch when I got it

·

Yea you hit it right on the head with me to be honest cuz I like some version but f ever watch you just posted lmao 🤣. But you know what Robin. That’s okay! We suppose to like and love different things. It would be boring if not. Great post brother ✌️😉

I feel you. Compared to i.e. the Seamaster Diver or the Speedy, the AT is surprisingly underwhelming (and therefore totally overpriced). Also, I don't really like arrow hands in general, so it would be a pass from me anyway.

Strictly personal opinion but there are design elements that detract from a clean perspective including the ones that you point out. However, I walked into a popular Toronto menswear shop one late morning with a bunch of guys sipping free espressos talking watches. They are all watch enthusiasts, were praising admiring a young guy’s new AT. Best
