Hacks for Simple 3 Handers... pun intended.

So this is more an experiment in simplicity and mindfulness, since I find myself often separated from my phone these days by choice e and having to remember a lot of things simultaneously: cooking, last time the child went to potty for potty training, coffee brew, ect.. I have started to employ some tricks: - writing down the time an event happens on post it i.e. when coffee started brewing or oven started pre-heating.

Months ago I was researching if anyone safely used their automatic watches for running and stumbled onto a post where people use to use their hacking watches as timers by setting the time to twelve and pushing in the crown when they started running ect... sure I have a g shock with all the alarms and world time and stopwatch and it's awesome but I like to work out other ways of doing things too. Recently picked up a 2min sandglass for brushing the teeth for the little one works great, and I have genuinely been enjoying a life with less beeps and notifications cutting into all my thoughts.

You guys and gals come across any interesting "hacks" or mental tricks for remembering when you put money in the meter? When not wearing a Chronograph or Diver i.e. a simple 3 hander.

cheers

You could use a moon phase complication to track your periods, if that's what you mean? 😆

I use my 3 handers to tell time. Chronographs are for timing stuff.

I like simple.

Yes! As humans, we do not always had the proper tool (or time/resources available to acquire the proper tool) to do a task. We need to use what we have available to achieve success and then invent (or acquire) the tool we needed for the next time if the make-do approach didn't quite work.

We don't do enough of that type of problem solving anymore.

As time passes you will come to a point where keeping track of it is of less value than living it as it goes by. My regret is being a slave to it most of my life. Live by your inner clock where you can and the ticking one when you need to.

I sometimes use the length of one of my favourite songs to time what I'm trying to achieve.

It was something I saw in an old Bruce Willis move where Bruce and his partner in crime would sing a song to time themselves while they robbed banks or whatever it was. They would start singing the song together and off they would go knowing that the song was, lets say 3min 20 seconds long.

I know it's not using a watch or anything but I thought the concept was cool  😎

I have tried singing a song in the same fashion to cook something but my wife and kids thought I was in pain and ran quickly to my aid, which totally distracted me and I over cooked the eggs 😂

Now I just sing to myself or use my iPhone, it's safer for all that way 🎶🎤
