Perhaps not a "Speedy", but did it go to the Moon?

Reading about a poster's worry about a Speedmaster Reduced not being a real "Speedy", I thought I'd post my own Speedy Sleep Paralysis Demon! It's a '67 Omega De Ville 18k case with the 321 movement that is actually the one in the Speedy's that went to the moon. So now I'm all confused and such. Please help me!

In my personal opinion it looks better than the Speedy.

Just enjoy the great looks of this one :-) Class act.

Nice! So ... did this particular model Omega actually travel to the Moon on one of the Apollo missions? If so, which mission and which astronaut smuggled it onboard!?

I thought it was only Cmdr. Scott on Apollo 15 that managed to stowaway the "other" actual "Moonwatch", the prototype Bulova Lunar Pilot??

Well, yes, that's my personal opinion. I think Roger Smith, that Roger Smith, has a similar one in steel, slightly different case with straighter lugs, that is either a De Ville or a De Ville Seamaster. There were a couple of years in the late sixties when De Ville Seamasters were a thing. I think those steel ones are potentially even more collectable than the rubbishy old gold ones!

Yeah, it's a Moonwatch - it's got that much revered movement!

I think that's why my eyes always roll to the heavens when hearing about the people obsessing about the Speedy Professionals being the one and true thing etc, and whether a sapphire sandwich is authentic or not. last time I looked, apart from the recently reconstructed Ed White 321s, all those things have a rather different movment, and it's all about authenticity isn't it. Enjoy them all, and don't sweat the small stuff.

It’s beautiful! That’s all that matters.

That's such a gorgeous watch! Who cares if it's a speedy or not? It's in a class all its own.

·

Very nice timepiece.
