Vostok Panphibia

So the day has come that the Vostok needs a service. It keeps stopping and needing a knock to go again. So I need some advice

  1. drop a multiple of watch cost on a service. The watch has no sentimental value.

  2. bin it. Seems like a crazy option in this day and age
  3. is there anywhere that I can send it where it will get a second life? Eg donate to a watch repair school

4. Have a new 2416b movement dropped in (or DIY...).

Looks like  a perfect opportunity to watch some Youtube tutorials on modding Vostoks. Parts are ridiculously cheap for them. Give it a try? Nothing to lose.

I think the above comments have answered any questions

As said above, buying a new movement and installing yourself is fairly easy, and cheaper than a service, also fun. While in there you could mod it, seems like a good opportunity to get a brand new look if you want.

I'm all for modding, but I really like that Vostok the way it is (unlike 98% of the million Vostok permutations).

Any idea what reference number that is?

It’s a 170548. Main issue getting a movement is that I don’t want to do business with Russia at this moment in history. I guess I may have to drop it in a drawer and await a calmer world

I'm also planning to buy a Vostok so can I ask When did you buy this particular watch ?

Pre owned last summe. IIRC it’s a couple of years old
