I always felt the need of a timepiece on my wrist in case I forget to recharge my phone (which is quite often), but only when I got my first automatic I discovered the world of horology
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Do toy watches count? If so, I can't remember, there's been one in the shape of a locomotive that made a lot of noise when its funnel was pressed. But my first real watch was a quartz Orient that my parents gave me on my 13th birthday.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
That same Orient I mentioned above saved me when I got stuck in a toilet box at college. I used its bracelet's clasp as a screwdriver to disassemble the lock. There's also another Orient, this one a vintage Tristar automatic from the 70s or 80s, that belonged to my grandfather and was given me by my grandmother. And, of course, my first automatic, a Technos 82S0AE
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
I suck as an advisor, but I'd say "learn first and buy later"
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Well, I'm an Orient addicted. But lately I've also been reading about Seiko, Tissot and Hamilton
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
I think I already have my grail watch. But I'll have a hard time diciding which one is it.
