My Christmas Watch Story

I love when watches have sentimental value, whether it is due to the way or reason you have a watch, or the things you have experienced wearing it.

I am a college student who has recently jumped into the deep end of watches and have become extremely interested in everything watch related. Growing up, my Uncle was the only person in my family interested in watches, mainly larger watches which were not quite my taste. As I have recently got more interested in watches, I have been able to bring both my Uncle and Grandpa back into the world of watches. This has created a 3 generation level of discourse around watches which has been extremely informative and a great way to bond between us.

Going into this Christmas, my Grandpa told my Uncle (his son) and I, to pick out a quartz watch (as our collections are both mainly automatic) as a Christmas gift this year. I have been looking at the Seiko SBTR027 for a long time now and decided to choose it as my Christmas gift. After my Uncle saw my choice, he asked if I would be ok with him making the same decision. I was 100% okay with sharing the same gift from my Grandma and he suggested we get my Grandpa the same watch so we all shared the watch. I thought that it was a great idea and split the purchase with him. Today, I opened my watch, my uncle opened his watch, then we surprised my Grandpa with the same watch he got for both of us.

This was a core memory that I will cherish forever, three generations of guys who love watches, all owning the same watch. This was an awesome day not only to get a great watch, but also to share it with my Uncle and Grandfather.

Watches are a great way to come together and have keepsakes for memories.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

As the proud owner of SBTR013 from the same family of watches, I say well done. These JDMs are amazing at their price point. They punch above their weight. They have the same mecha-quartz movement that, placed in any number of microbrand watches have watch people wetting themselves over. They're just really, really cool. VERY underrated. And your story, with all three of you wearing one is awesome.

Beautiful story! Great choice of watch too! Thank you for sharing! I don’t really have any family members that are into watches, my dad is only slightly. But I’m starting my kids on the path of beautiful watches and empty wallets! Lol
