With watch prices coming down, I think its a GREAT time to buy pre-owned. What do you think?

I have been following the prices of preowned watches for the past 6 to 12 months and have noticed a sharp decline in prices. I just purchased an Omega, as I feel its a really good time to buy at decent prices. What are your thoughts?

Hi Peter

Great video and beautiful watch. I'd be very interested to know what price a decent used version goes for. I've seen new ones in Japan for around £3,000 GBP

That sounds about right.

As long as they are in great condition with accessories, thats a decent deal 👍

Nice video and watch!  The WatchCrunch plug is a great touch, too.

I hadn't purchased a preowned watch before being influenced by some of this site's members (@Aurelian, @ChronoGuy, @SimplyVintageWatches).  I have a couple now, and looking at some 1960s - 70s era Omegas.  They have a classic beauty that the current generation seems to lack.  I haven't noticed a significant price drop for these, but they tend to be lower cost to start, so maybe the downward pressure hasn't reached that price range yet.

Thanks again for showing your beautiful piece!

Unless we're talking hyped watches, imo there's never a bad time to buy preown.

Great video Peter - as always. I love the superb quality of your video and photos.

You have impeccable taste and I am always impressed with your ability to pair straps with your watches. I would watch your videos for that feature alone as it really helps me with ideas.

How about a video that covers your thoughts on how to pair straps with different types of watches and dial colors. Do you consider the color pops on the dials when you pick the straps? How does the vibrancy of the dial impact your view of strap versus bracelet? Who are favorite strap brands and sellers? Do you have any tips and tricks for safe strap changes - you do it so often you must know how to handle the variety of lugs and spring bars without causing damage.

Thanks for the shoutout @timegeek happy to be an enabler 😉

My thoughts are that with the rising interest rates and the volatile markets, there should be plenty of great deals ahead in the next 6-18 months on pre-owned watches as dealers have to unload inventory to cover their carrying cost.

In the vintage space, it's a whole different market - more collectors who are indifferent to market action - prices are much more stable and may even increase over the next 12 months.
