My Brand New Orient Ray 2

I was a tad dubious about buying this watch, (especiall coming all the way from Creation Watches) but I must admit I am more than thrilled with it. It looks classy, feels great on, keeps great time and I took it in the pool without any issues.

Congrats on the new watch - looks great! Can imagine it being a bit of a strap monster too 🤙

Thank you Sir! I quite like the stock strap, but having only a pressed clasp I might upgrade in the future.

Cheers

That is really nice. I seriously considered one before I got my Seiko Turtle, I may get a black Mako though. Are you planning any changes to it? It looks great stock though!

Thanks! I may mod it at some point but the watch and I are on our honeymoon period at the mo. I've worn it every day for over a week now and I love it. I have some better quality metal bracelets and a rubber strap I use alot on my skx. But if I were to mod I might change the bezel insert. I thought about putting in a sapphire crystal but I'd be worried my mod skills might compromise the water resistance. But I guess I'd really just be converting it to a Mako. They are sapphire crystals right?

Anyhoo, it really is a great watch for the money. My first brand new watch in about 15 years.

I get that mate and theres nothing wrong with it as it is!

The Mako is mineral I believe, the Kamasu is sapphire, but the names seem to be different depending on which part of the world you are in, so may be wrong there!

I'm the same with crystals and whether it compromises water resistance!

Ah yes you are correct about the Mako, I just looked it up, the dial markings are different to the Ray.

I'm amazed by the Ray's accuracy and the lume is really great too. I have heard there is extra lume on the mako.  Mark at Long Island watches has some good videos about the Orient line as he sells them too.

I recently posted on advice as to buying a Ray 2 or Mako 2. Decided on the same watch as you to get first. Going to get a blue Mako 2 at some point soon. I've had a Kamasu in teal for a year. Can't go wrong with Orients!

Thank you sir, it is now my most worn watch, I have been considering a Kamasu also.
