Vario 1918

Decided to pull the trigger on one of these and I'm very happy with it so far. I'll definitely be looking harder at Vario going forward; original designs and great value for money.

Nice.  Big fan of their designs.  They keep the trench watch alive and well.  Congrats!

Owned one and it was a great watch. Ended up selling ot to a friend with an agreement, that if he sells it I would be the first person to call.

Welcome, very happy with mine. With and without the Bund pad. Very different wears.

Very nicely matched! I bought a single pass NATO for it as well, waiting for it to arrive.

Kudos to you for getting the brass case!

Congratulations on your new trench inspired piece.

I almost bought the first iteration of this a few years ago when it was on Kickstarter, I put an order in but it didn't make the required number and didn't go forward at the time.

Glad to see that they got going eventually, it's a nice watch . I might have to investigate further.👍

Ok so just checked their site and was impressed with some of their other watch's to , though one which looked like a perfect Christmas present for @Watchwitch was unfortunately sold out.

They also have some interesting straps and I will probably get a bund strap as I really like them for a military style and just like them. Good shout and thanks for your original post.

Got mine more than a year ago and I'm still very happy with it. Vario is one of the most respectable micro brands, since they're not afraid of doing things differently.

beautiful watch. is the trenchwatch like vario is also considered a field watch?

·

Wow, great piece! Love the dial!

I believe so. You could probably say that trench watches were the origin field watch when you consider their purpose. Highly legible, designed with an outdoor setting in mind, good water resistance, etc.

Lots of Vario fans here.

nice

been thinking of one

question is 40 or 37mm for a 7.5 inch wrist

·

Mine is 37mm on a 7.25 inch wrist.

To me it's more period correct. I think 40mm would look out of place for the style.

Love Vario - Ivan and Judy are just fantastic!

I went all-in when Ivan launched the trench watch on Kickstarter - purchased the complete set plus the Medic. I also convinced him to make a run of crystal protectors which came out really well.

They've also done a great job with the Empire and the Empire chronographs.

Here are a few wrist shots from some of the watches in my Vario collection...

It's awesome that you've gotten some interaction with them! Do you own all of these yourself or is this from an event where they were showcasing their models?

Madness I know - yes I own these.

I have a passion for supporting microbrands that are creating quality watches.

Sometimes the brands succeed wildly like Zelos and Vario, and other times not so much.

I'm interested in adding to my collection as long as it's not just another homage of a hyped brand or model.

I posted a number of the microbrands that I have supported on this thread...

You can see the variety of styles and creativity that many microbrands provides us as collectors and enthusiasts.

That is probably my favorite of their offerings

i tried micro brands , very good and beautiful watches. but each time i looked at the time its like i was sad it was not a big brand on the dial... its stupid but its what i feel .... i sale them and give them without regrets.

does someone else feel the same???

I felt that way about some micro brands at first, I'd buy them but just couldn't get as much enjoyment from them as I did my big name watches. It's understandable. Are you new to collecting? I've only started to appreciate micro brands a bit more in the last year, about 10 years into my collecting journey.
