Let’s talk about Fossil

Hey there Crunchers!

I’m starting in on pre-production of a deep dive video into the Fossil line of watches and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m only talking about the Fossil line itself. I don’t plan to include any subsidiaries like Michele, Skagen, or Zodiac. Same with the fashion watches they subcontract like Diesel or Michael Kors.

I’m leaving my opinion out for now. I want an unvarnished look at what the world of watch enthusiasts think of the venerable fossil that is Fossil.

Dinosaurs are cool. 🦕 🦖

I don't have a lot of opinion about Fossil watches as a brand, but rather an observation ... it seems, that at least in my corner of the global turf, that most folks who wear Fossil are folks who aren't watch aficionados and likely own/wear just the one piece

Dunno, bit like Breil another of those brands no one pays any attention to. No idea why 🤔

The only time I see or think about Fossil is when I go to the outlet malls. They use to be more affordable and then went upmarket, for the same products. I’m not sure what to think other than I have better options for the same price.

they have some really cool stuff even if they lack great specs

the fossil Easton has a really beautiful dial and good enough water resistance, i might get it soon

the brand servers as a great watch and is good for those starting their journey

Fossil was the watch that got me through college. For that reason alone I have fond memories of the brand.

·

Fossil watches are not bad brand. Its a good starter and get by watch if you want to go just plain basic.

Hello OldLine. My two (now grown) daughters have always liked Fossil, so that by itself is good enough for me.

But having said that, I had a Fossil watch in the 80s that was really something. It was unique, and I haven't seen anything like it before or since. The best I can describe it is that it was a skeleton quartz watch. Let me explain. It was a quartz watch with mechanical parts artwork on the dial, but a small cutout where you could see the actual coil and a little more of the quartz movement. It had a non-replaceable rubber strap but it had these metal bars running through it at intervals for no other reason than to make it look sharp. Which it did. But with all the artwork on the dial, how could you tell this watch was a Fossil? You just looked at its fat hour hand that had FOSSIL printed on it. After many years it literally fell apart. I've looked for it on the internet but have never seen it, but this is not helped by the fact that I have no idea what to call it.

I'm glad you are taking this on. I absolutely would watch your video.
