Reservoir - my first luxury watch

Any love for the weird and wonderful?

Fell in love with this watch. Features:

  • Power reserve: 5 dots at the bottom
  • Retrograde minutes: snaps back once it hits 60
  • Jump hour - looks like a date window. Flicks over simultaneously with the minute hand

Tempted to get the steel version. What are your thoughts?

Have a nice day! :)

I always found retrograde movements quite interesting! I have never seen this watch brand before so I have no experience with it (I don't even think I have ever seen a YouTube video about it) so I can't give any judgment about the watch. Have you ever gotten the chance to see one in person?

This is my watch, it's been great! Although unfortunately currently in the shop for a service - which is frustrating.

I bought it second hand, and it's a complicated movement, so that's two risk factors leading to needing the service - glad I have 2 years warranty!

Extremely satisfying to hear the click once every hour when it ticks over. The website has good pictures and a graphic of how the hand/disc moves

Most of Reservoir's watches are based on car fuel gauges and speedometers - so I'm not surprised!

This model is supposed to look like a submarine gauge.

Good luck with todays fuel prices buddy!

That is really cool!

I've seriously contemplated Reservoir watches in the past, since I really like the retrograde design. It's hard to pull off a design that looks like an automotive gauge rather than a bathroom scale, and Reservoir has some models that can do that.

·

thats really unique, so the supposedly date window are hour marking?

·

Super Cool looking watch! Love it. Congratulations on a bold choice!

·

That would be enjoyable to wear. I love the industrial color scheme.

Yep never heard of the brand or even ever seen this type of watch but it is possibly one of the coolest time pieces I have ever seen! Very interesting and so unusual! I'm guessing they are very high end in terms of purchasing one?

You have to pay for complications on automatic watches, and this model has 3 (power reserve, jump hour, retrograde minutes), so unfortunately it's a little pricey :(

Edit: However other watches (such as bovet, vacheron) can cost £30,000+ for similar complications (although these are often made of precious metals etc which add to the price too)

That's true, this watch does not display the date. The hour is shown in the center - the time here is about 7.03

Thankyou for the link very interesting! Actually I was expecting that sort of price range so maybe not unobtainable as a long term aim!? I'm a recent collector with a very modest collection so far but your post has really lit a fire for this type of watch which was previously not on my radar. I've just become your first follower!

I'm a recent collector too, not sure what to branch out in next. Waiting for a Rolex OP but not sure just yet.

Thanks friend, have a great day!

Reservoir has become my long term aim...I've never been much if a Rolex fan having experienced their dealers in work related stuff, Omega or maybe Grand Seiko is more my thing! Have a good one and a great post!

Yeah, but which watch do you sell to pay for it?

Congratulations on the beautiful watch and thanks for the information about Reservoir.

I love the look of the Reservoir Kanister, very evocative of the instrumentation of an old Porsche.

The design makes me wonder how easily I'd be able to tell the time with a glance at my wrist, but I'd probably get used to it....

I love the kanister!

In practise, I find it easier to tell the time than a regular watch, as you often are aware what hour it is, and at a glance it shows what minute you are on
